The No. 2 Adrian College women’s ice hockey team was able to pull off a come-from-behind victory to sweep its weekend series with Saint Mary’s (Minn.) on Sunday.
Despite being extremely strong on offense, the Bulldogs were undone by an odd angled shot from the left face off circle.
It took Adrian six minutes into the second period to tie the game at one, as Sydney Daversa was finally able to get her first goal against the Cardinals, one she has been grinding for since the early-goings of yesterday’s contest. Daversa was helped along by Abbie Grias and Jaden Rilei.
Saint Mary’s was able to regain the lead before the end of the middle stanza, scoring with three minutes remaining on the board. It would be the Cardinals’ last tally of the game.
The Bulldogs would explode in the third period, posting three goals in the span of 12 minutes. Une Bjelland was credited with the game-tying goal at 8:01,a power play goal, as she was able to find the back of the goal off a pass of Jacqueline White. Jessica VonRuden also recorded a helper on the tally.
It was Grias with the game-winner, posting her at 16:26. Daversa received the puck from Julia Barrett and skated around the offensive zone before sending a shot on goal, which Grias was quick to clean up.

As the clock wound down, the Cardinals were forced their goalie, a sign of weakness that the Bulldogs were sure to capitalize on. It was Brianna Buchanan who skated the puck up the ice before met by defenders, she passed it off to Daversa who scored what seemed to be the most slow and deliberate goal to date.
Appearing in goal for AC was Mia Glassco. She played for 59:34, making 15 saves in her first win of the season.
Adrian will begin a three game road trip, kicking off at conference competitor Marian (Wisc.) at 6 p.m. on Nov. 15th.
