AEW Dynamite Stops in Rochester and Newark Postponed

Extra Hard News

In what has been a dizzying and aggravating day for the sports fans as a result of the coronavirus epidemic, two broadcasts of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Dynamite have been postponed.

Rochester stop rescheduled for this summer

Next week’s broadcast in Rochester, N.Y. has been postponed after Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency Thursday afternoon. This included a ban on events with 500 or more people, according to a report from PW Insider’s Mike Johnson.

Josh Nason from Wrestling Observer reported that AEW will have to make a difficult decision regarding Wednesday’s broadcast. AEW officials can either relocated the show to another location or cancel the broadcast altogether.

Currently, AEW still intends to hold a show, with further information pending. It may potentially be an empty arena show at Daily’s Place in their corporate headquarters of Jacksonville, Fla., according to speculators on Twitter.

A potential reschedule for AEW’s New York debut at the Blue Cross Arena is for July 8, according to Nason.

Newark stop rescheduled as well

Dynamite’s stop after Rochester in Newark, N.J. was also postponed. Officials from the Prudential Center released a statement Thursday suspending all further events slated to take place in the month of March:

The New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center are supportive of the NHL’s decision to suspend the season. Similarly, in consultation with our live event partners, promoters and artists, we have postponed all events at the Prudential Center through the end of March.

The venue was slated to hold the ‘Blood and Guts’ themed Dynamite broadcast. Currently, there is no report from AEW as to when the venue could be rescheduled.

The titular main event match would feature members of The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Santana, Ortiz, Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager) against members of The Elite (Cody Rhodes, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Kenny Omega and “Hangman” Adam Page).

This news emerges as WWE canceled their stop scheduled for Friday in Detroit for WWE SmackDown, opting to go live before a nearly-empty arena from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.
