“On Story Parkway: Remembering County Stadium,” is about everything and anything Milwaukee County Stadium. Two and a half years in the making. It covers everything from; the county financing to demolition, Braves to Brewers, Pink Floyd to The Rolling Stones.

At 620 pages in length, there is a LOT of information and memories. The book even has as over 150 vintage photos, which have never been seen before. There is a foreword by Bud Selig – to help explain why the stadium was so beloved.

“With County Stadium, it seemed like a subject in search of an author. To be clear, this project is about the people that made up this facility, specifically the fans. It’s the memories from fans, media members and players that brought this to life. I grew up going to games, rock shows in that place so it seemed obvious to write about it,” said Author Jim Cryns

Cryns reached out to me via email and shared some information about the book. His work includes 250 memories from former Braves and Brewers, Milwaukee media- and most importantly the fans. This is not a coffee table book, but that’s where you’ll want to keep it for others to share in the memories.

Cryns says that the fans are this book. Nothing would have happened without them, and the experiences come from their minds. The book features memories from Robin Yount, Rollie Fingers, Bob Harlan, Chris Jacke, Mayor John Norquist, Tom Trebelhorn. and hundreds of fans.

When asked by OnMilwaukee what he missed about County Stadium, Cryns told Bobby Tanzilo he misses “having a few beers with your friends and being a little stupid. You can’t do that anymore,” he said “It has all become so sanitized”

Cryns says that he distinctly recalls driving down the hill approaching County Stadium with the afternoon sun coming down. Cracking a beer in the parking lot with friends. “You’d walk in and smell the peanuts and popcorn and now you’d arrived.”
