NISA Commissioner John Prutch will be presenting the National Independent Soccer Association’s top awards for the 2022 season at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga this weekend. The Commissioner will present the awards just before the Chattanooga FC vs Flower City Union match.
Chattanooga Football Club’s Markus Naglestad won the Golden Boot for the most goals scored and the Golden Ball for the most valuable player in the league. Jean Antoine, the team’s goalkeeper, earned the Golden Glove for his outstanding season with Cal United in 2022. CFC Men’s Head Coach Rod Underwood was named Coach of the Year for leading CFC to a season record of 14-7-3 in his first year with the club.

Naglestad played in 23 league games last season and scored 19 goals, the most in a single season for any player in CFC history. Jean Antoine was an unbreakable brick wall as the starting keeper for Cal United, keeping opponents scoreless in 12 of 16 games and allowing just five goals all season. Underwood led CFC to a Quarterfinal bye and Hamilton County’s first pro soccer Semifinal berth at home.
The Golden Boot is a statistical award for most goals in a season, while the Golden Ball MVP Award, Golden Glove, and Coach of the Year Awards are voted on by coaching staffs around the league. Prutch said, “It was an exciting season that produced many electric performances. It’s the players and coaches at the heart of the league and its growth.”

The awards ceremony will take place just before the Chattanooga FC vs Flower City Union match on Saturday, April 22. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the match can be purchased at ChattanoogaFC.com/tickets. Chattanooga Football Club was founded in 2009 and competes in the National Independent Soccer Association. The team plays all home games in Finley Stadium in Chattanooga.
