After missed cuts in the first 2 tournaments, I have a sense of what I’m doing well and what needs improvement. I talked with some mentors back home today and developed a plan to get better. I have a 2 way miss and am struggling with low point control, hitting some shots thin and others fat, I’m also leaving putts short. In general im playing out of fear and trying to avoid mistakes, rather than playing with confidence and trying to execute great shots. This transition can start to take place now that I have some understanding of cause and effect in the shots I’m hitting and a few set up and club tweaks to promote the draw I want to see with my irons and the fade with my driver. I also have a simple feel or two in my swing that makes sense to me right now. As much as I want to completely shut my brain off and play golf only looking at targets and reacting athletically, I know from experience that at least a base level understanding of my swing and how to produce a repeatable shot shape makes me a lot more capable of turning my brain off and trusting that I’m going to see the shape I want most of the time and can confidently pick start lines from there. I’ll go to a golf store in town tomorrow to adjust my lie angles a bit, then I’ll get some practice in and finish the day with a practice round in the afternoon. Good things are happening, I’m pumped.
