Jeremiah Flemmons of East Hamilton High School has been crowned a State Champion in the triple jump event. A post from the school says he is the first ever TSSAA State Champion in Hurricane history after winning the triple jump.

The triple jump, sometimes referred to as the hop, step and jump or the hop, skip and jump, is a track and field event, similar to the long jump. The competitor runs down the track and performs a hop, a bound and then a jump into the sand pit.

The annual championship events are held at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The events are hosted by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association.

Flemmons is a well-known local athlete, who had success all four years of his high school athletic career. Congratulations to Jeremiah on this achievement. You make your community proud.
