Today, I jump into the Airbus H135 Helicopter for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 being actively developed by Hype Performance – and it’s a freeware project available to download on flightsim.to
I’ve been wanting to check this out for a few weeks now, and have been watching it closely behind the scenes as it developed from v0.1 and I figured that NOW, at v0.74 it would be a great time to try it out and share my honest, raw thoughts.
This was recorded when I used the Helicopter for the very first time in MSFS 2020 – I had not tried it out before hand either, and so everything you’re about to see all happened in a few short minutes but I had an ABSOLUTE blast with it.
Things I took away from it:
– My controls weren’t set up nicely for Advanced flight mode
– Basic Flight Mode is lovely
– It’s great fun!
Setup-wise, I didn’t have to change ANY controls in my sim. I’m using a Thrustmaster T Flight Hotas X Full Flight Kit with stick, throttle and rudder and it worked very well.
The one thing I tried off video was an engine failure return to base with autorotation and whilst the rotors still spun and generated lift, nearer to the ground they did not change pitch to “float” just prior to touchdown – but I’m certain this will be added in the future!
