The Hawks shook up the 2022 NFL draft order this week, trading one of three first-round picks to New Orleans for a 2023 first-round pick. The Hawks’ outlook for the Class of 2022 looks a little different now, which will mean a whole new way. (Note: The analog series now uses the On The Clock FanSpeak emulator!)

1st round, 15th pick: Derek Stingley Junior, CB, LSU

Strange things happened. Derek Stingley is the best cornerback in the class, and it would be a classic NFL faux pas to put him back in his teens. Stingley would instantly change the perspective of the entire defense and close potential with his ball-hawking ability.

First round, 18th pick: Chris Olaf, WR, OSU

Speed, long runs and soft hands. Combine Chris Olave with DeVonta Smith and watch the NFL defense struggle to keep both. Olaf and Smith can line up anywhere, giving the Hawks offensive flexibility.

Second round, 19th pick: Nik Bonitto, Edge, Oklahoma

The Eagles still need firepower on their defense. Nik Bonitto is a passing specialist with great explosiveness and flex. He would be a great role player and could develop into a full-time threat on the defensive fringes.

Third round, 19th pick: Perrion Winfrey, DL, Oklahoma

The Eagles could double-dive with the Sooners and walk away with enthusiasm while rebuilding the backline. Perrion Winfrey is an extraordinary athlete who has been in Oklahoma’s backcourt. He’s a potentially damaging forward who could learn from Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave.

Round 3, No. 37: Quay Walker, LB, Georgia

Quay Walker is everything the Eagles need as a linebacker. He’s fast, strong and has a great handle. From the Georgia defense, Walker will immediately support linebackers who need him.

Fourth round, 19th pick: Calvin Austin III, WR, Memphis

Calvin Austin III is the epitome of speed, but he’s by no means a pony. While his size might intimidate NFL teams, he was a major playmaker for two years in Memphis. Austin has great ball handling, runs well on routes, and can do magic with the ball in his hands. Let him be in Philadelphia.

Round 5, 11th pick: Pierre Strong Junior, RB, South Dakota

The Eagles can still spice up their backcourt. Pierre Strong is a home run running back with the advantage of a full-time main. It would make a lot of sense to rotate with Miles Sanders during his contract year and possibly take the top linebacker spot at some point.
