The Reinhardt Eagles softball team delivered an exceptional performance this weekend, securing a clean sweep against Columbia International University (CIU) and Pikeville University. The Eagles showcased their prowess on their home turf with a series of commanding victories, finishing the weekend with an impressive 4-0 record.
On Friday, the Eagles opened their campaign against their AAC rivals, the CIU Rams. In the first game, Reinhardt took an early lead and maintained their momentum to clinch a 7-3 victory. Emily Loveless powered the offense with a home run, two hits, and two RBIs, while Eryn Lee contributed three RBIs. Alexis Teems and Ansley Evans each added an RBI to the tally, ensuring a robust start for the Eagles.
The momentum continued in the second game against CIU, with Reinhardt scoring consistently in every inning for a decisive 15-6 win. The game concluded prematurely after the fifth inning due to the Eagles’ overwhelming lead. Loveless and Hannah Kate Singleton stood out with their home-run hits, with Singleton also leading in RBIs with four.
Saturday saw the Eagles face off against the Pikeville Bears, where they continued their dominant streak with two shutout victories, 8-0 and 7-0. The first game’s highlight was a six-run burst in the third inning, spearheaded by Molly Stevens’ home run. The second game featured a stunning hit by Taylor Wade, who completed a home run, with both Wade and Lee leading in RBIs.
These victories extend the Eagles’ impressive season record to 27-7, maintaining a perfect record in conference play at 16-0. The team’s exceptional performance across the board highlights their determination and skill, setting a high standard for the remainder of the season.
