Full preview and details on the Region 3A semifinal round of the Tennessee High School basketball playoffs. The Hurricanes of East Hamilton High School and Chiefs of Sequoyah High School will meet in the semifinal round of the regional playoffs.
The Hurricanes were able to secure their first district championship since 2013 against the Eagles of Signal Mountain last Tuesday night. It was a close game for much of the first two quarters, but later in the contest East Hamilton pulled away from Signal Mountain, winning 50-38.
On Friday East Hamilton played air-tight defense, pushing passed a talented Lenoir City team, 56-36. The Panthers did their best to fight off the Hurricanes, but East Hamilton was hot and played well as a unit. East Hamilton now stands at 19-11 overall on the season. They are 10-2 in the 2022 calendar year.

Lenoir City High School lost 53-42 to Sequoyah High School in the district tournament semifinals. The Chiefs come into tonight’s contest at 13-16 overall on the season. The Monroe County team went 5-3 in their district. Sequoyah High School is 8-7 in 2022. The Chiefs split their district tournament, winning the semifinal of their tournament, but losing in the Championship to Fulton, 57-50.
In the quarterfinal Sequoyah knocked out Soddy Daisy, winning by just 10 points. The final in that contest was 56-46. For the sake of a mutual opponent serving as a comparison, the last time the Trojans played East Hamilton they lost to the Hurricanes 60-27.

Niya McGhee finished with a game-high 13 total points last time out. Morgan Bone splashed in an impressive 11 total points last time. McKenna Hayes continued her pace for the season, scoring 10 total points. Amya Sutton added 8 total points last time out.
