Two in a Row for SMC Women’s Soccer with 1-0 Shutout of Brewton-Parker College

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. (SESN) — The Hawkins sisters on the Spartanburg Methodist College women’s soccer helped propel the visiting Pioneers to a 1-0 win over Brewton-Parker College on Saturday night.

SMC (2-1) scored its lone goal on the night as the Pioneers’ Logan Harvin started a counterattack after taking possession of the ball away from the Barons. She quickly found Johana Martinez, who moved the ball down the pitch and connected with CJ Hawkins, who fired a shot that bounced off the hands of the BPC goalkeeper. Quickly on the spot was sister, Addie Hawkins for the goal. The goal for Addie Hawkins is her third of the week.

Based on statistics available, for the game, the Pioneers outshot the host Barons by a 17-1 margin with 10 shots on goal for SMC. CJ Hawkins had nine shots – seven on goal to lead the attack. SMC goalkeeper Ava Wilson picked up the shutout.

Next, on Tuesday, SMC will travel to Milledgeville, Georgia for a neutral-site matchup against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at 2 p.m.
