Volkswagen’s eighth-generation Golf is finally here, and while it might look largely similar to the outgoing car on the outside, there are many big changes (and some small ones) underneath.

We’ve taken a look at the whole Golf 8 range for 2021 to see what’s different, why it’s more expensive now, and whether it’s worth it when stacked up against competitors.

We’ll assess the new Golf against our eight review criteria, including its pricing and features, practicality, engine specs, fuel consumption, safety, ownership, and, of course, what it’s like to drive to see if it can stand up against cars like the Toyota Corolla, Hyundai i30, Kia Cerato, and Mazda3.

Remember to check out the review on site, where we’ve covered the range in more detail, and also our separate review and video of the new Golf GTI.
