An MSNBC anchor apologized on Sunday after it was believed she used a racial slur during a live broadcast shortly after the death of Kobe Bryant.
Host Alison Morris seemed to use the N-word while trying to say the name of Bryant’s team, the Lakers, during an announcement of the fatal helicopter crash.
Following the gaffe, Morris said she misspoke. Morris said that she combined the words “Knicks” and “Lakers” to say “Nakers,” which several on Twitter heard as the racial slur.
Earlier today, while reporting on the tragic news of Kobe Bryant’s passing, I unfortunately stuttered on air, combining the names of the Knicks and the Lakers to say “Nakers.” Please know I did not & would NEVER use a racist term. I apologize for the confusion this caused.

Skeptics on Twitter are still deflecting Morris’ explanations.
