The Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams have agreed to terms that will send Matthew Stafford to the Rams in exchange for Jared Goff, two first-round picks and one third-round pick.
Stafford leaves the Lions as their all-time leader in passing yards (45,109) and touchdowns (282). He played for the franchise for 12 seasons, dating back to when he was the number one selection in the draft in 2009 out of Georgia.

Stafford will now join a Rams team that many analysts say is just a “good quarterback” away from being a true contender for a Super Bowl.
Goff led the Rams to a 13-3 record and a Super Bowl berth in the 2018 season, but has noticeably declined in performance in the years since. This season, Goff was good for 3,952 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

New head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes are now working with three extra draft picks and $14 million in new cap space. Many believe they will try to land a top quarterback in the NFL Draft this year.
