Penn State suffered their first losing season under James Franklin in 2020. But after starting the season 0-5, the Nittany Lions rattled off four straight victories to end the season. Now Penn State seems poised to have a major bounce back season with 14 returning starters and no Covid to worry about. Sean Clifford is back at QB, Noah Cain returns at RB after suffering a season ending injury last year, and Jahan Dotson returns as the leading WR. Despite the 4-5 record, the Penn State defense was a Top 30 unit nationally and ranked in the top half of the Big Ten in the major statistical categories. With seven starters back on that side of the ball, the Nittany Lions should have another big year on that side of the ball. With a difficult Big Ten slate that includes road games at Wisconsin, Iowa, and Ohio State and a big non conference game vs Auburn, the 2021 season will be far from easy. But the talent and momentum is there for Penn State to once again be a contender in the Big Ten and possibly for a New Years Six Bowl Game.
