Evans Street Station Will Close After 19 Years

Evans Street Station, one of the premier dining experiences in all of Michigan, has announced they will be closing their doors after 19 years. The restaurant announced the move in a letter they published to their Facebook page.

The restaurant, located at 110 South Evans Street in Tecumseh, Michigan, was widely celebrated by critics and residents of the city alike. The letter cited the effects of the pandemic as the reason they would be closing.

For nearly two decades the location offered modern midwestern food and drinks in Tecumseh’s former fire station. The Toledo City Paper called it the “Best Restaurant Worth the Drive.”

In addition they offered a full outdoor patio, a full bar, private events and catering. According to their website, Evans Street Station was born out of love of family, community and genuine hospitality.

After opening in Spring of 2001, they offered “a selection of wines from around the world with a focus on small producers, a rotating list of artisan beers with a celebration of Michigan’s best, and handcrafted cocktails created by our inventive team.”

On July 1st it was announced some all-time favorites would be returning to the menu, as they shared photos of the food on  social media. “I love this place, great food, service, and memories,” wrote one Facebook user.

Evans Street Station will be remembered as a favorite place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, weddings, charitable events, and more.

The letter, as all of their operations were, was heartfelt and genuine. You can view the letter as it was published in entirety below.

Below is the letter as published on the Facebook page of the business.

To Our Friends, Family, and Loyal Guests,

After much contemplation, it is with heavy hearts we announce that Evans Street Station has closed due to the effects of the pandemic. The building and the business have been put up for sale. It has been an honor to serve the greater Lenawee Community over these past 19 years. We deeply appreciate your support and take solace in the countless lasting friendships we have cultivated during our time in this very special place. We would especially like to express our sincere gratitude to our incredible staff who have come to be like family over the years.

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to celebrate countless joyous occasions with you — from birthdays and anniversaries to engagements, weddings, charitable events, and even more often, simply a memorable dinner out to reconnect with loved ones.

While we are saddened for this chapter to end, we are hopeful another group of entrepreneurs will come forward with a vision of their own for the space and make it their own. We are humbled to have collaborated and contributed to the revival of the Downtown Tecumseh District in this community we love and wish all our neighbors continued success and prosperity in these unprecedented times.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
