The Washington NFL franchise has been under incredible scrutiny over the past month. The front office announced last week that they would officially retire the Redskin mascot over mounting pressure from figures, fans and sponsors.
A damning report has since been released that accused the organization of numerous incidents of sexual harassment to 15 separate women who were employed by the franchise. Now, a former Redskins player is putting his ex-coach on blast for his unprofessionalism.
D.J. Swearinger, of the New Orleans Saints, played for Washington from 2017-2018 under former head coach Jay Gruden. The safety recently posted a screenshot of a text message conversation he had with his coach after a postgame press conference following a 40-16 blowout loss to the Giants.
If the following is real, it appeared as though Gruden wanted to challenge his player to a fight. It’s tough to believe, but that’s what Swearinger said happened. Take a look.
