Raphael Varane attended Real Madrid’s pre-season camp on Friday morning despite drawing nearer to a move to Manchester United.

Varane, 28, was pictured arriving at the club’s Ciudad Real Madrid training complex in Valdebebas, but did not stay to take part in any training sessions.
It is understood the French defender attended to take part in compulsory medical examinations following his participation in the European Championship earlier this summer.
United remain confident of completing a deal for Varane following the imminent Jadon Sancho transfer announcement and the defender expects to join United this summer.
There is even slight optimism United could yet complete the
signing by the end of the month, though his preference was to head straight to Manchester after his holiday, rather than have to return to Madrid for any pre-season duties.
Varane had been away on holiday with his wife, Camille, and their two children following his participation for France at Euro 2020 where his side were eliminated by Switzerland in the round of 16.

Sources say United are expected to sign Varane for a ‘good price’ and his fee is not expected to be a sticking point, while discussions over personal terms have been productive.
Madrid accept they need to sell the France international this summer as he has under a year left on his contract and they have no intention of allowing him to leave without obtaining a fee. The MEN revealed Madrid’s intention to sell Varane to United in March.
