Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers couldn’t overcome an early deficit in a 48-37 loss to rival Cleveland and the Browns. Pittsburgh’s season is over, and now his contract is the biggest obstacle for the franchise.
Against Cleveland, he threw for 501 yards and four touchdowns. An impressive stat line, but he did it over the course of 68 attempts, and four interceptions puts quite the negative spin on otherwise unreliable statistics and production.
Sad to see Ben Roethlisberger like this. #Steelers pic.twitter.com/h7wYJ0K7A7

Roethlisberger is being roasted in the media and by beat writers. “Completely washed up,” they criticize. The consensus is in from the media, and it does not look good for the beloved veteran signal caller.
The seemingly consensus idea of fans and media does not bode well for his future with the Steelers. It would require a large portion of Pittsburgh’s cap in 2021 to keep him under center for the team.
Waning seconds. Best friends. Decade-long teammates. Always vowed they'd keep playing as long as the other did.https://t.co/tEHvtV0LBT

It’s unclear whether or not the franchise will push to keep him around. And I’m uncomfortable making a call as to whether or not it’s a better decision either way. But what is clear is what a great career he has had.
In his career he has completed 64.4% of his passes, for an incredible 60,348 yards, and 396 passing touchdowns. On the ground he also has totaled 1,368 yards and 19 rushing touchdowns.
