Will a new crack down on referral codes and links by Twitch finally end the Gamba Meta?
While some big Twitch streamers like xQc have quit doing gambling streams on their own, others like Trainwrecks and Adin Ross are still keeping the Gamba Meta alive. However, a new rule by twitch that prevents sharing links or referral codes to sites that offer slots, roulette, or dice games may finally put an end to Gambling streams on Twitch.
While gambling streams themselves are not explicitly banned, almost all of those big streams are sponsored by gambling sites who bank on links and referral codes to drive the audiences of people like Trainwrecks and Adin Ross to gamble on their sites. Without those codes or links, it’s much, much harder to drive Twitch traffic to their gambling sites, so likely the paydays they are offering for these streams will either shrink down or flat out disappear.
With much smaller or non existent paydays for Twitch streamers, it’s hard to imagine the Gamba Meta surviving for very long. When suddenly Adin or Trainwrecks aren’t making six or seven figures a month in sponsorship money from the gambling sites they play on stream, it’s hard to imagine them sticking with gambling. So is this finally the end of Twitch’s Gamba Meta? I think we should all know for sure in the next few weeks.
