Tucker Tynan, the 17-year-old OHL goaltender who suffered a gruesome injury during a junior hockey game, is already on the comeback trail. Tynan plays for the Ontario Hockey League’s Niagara IceDogs. He was taken off on a stretcher after his leg was severely cut by a player’s skate.

He was taken to a local hospital for emergency surgery following the injury. Hockey Twitter was sent into a buzz by the gruesome injury as images and clips were shared around the web.

The team announced several hours later that Tynan was in stable condition.

“Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the kind words, truly they mean more than anyone can ever know,” Tynan tweeted on Friday. “An unfortunate situation, looking forward to recovering and coming back even stronger and healthier than before.”

The remainder of the game was postponed following the injury. The OHL also made the decision on Friday that the IceDogs’ next two games would be postponed.
