In this episode, we recap a week of ACC football and open with player of the week picks. We highlight Davis Warren’s big passing performance for Stanford, Jeffrey Overton’s game-winning run for Virginia Tech against Boston College, and Virginia quarterback Bo Perbula’s efficient night in a win over Delaware.
We also discuss Wake Forest’s 30-27 upset of Louisville, with Carlos Hernandez accounting for most of Gio Lopez’s passing production. That result leads into a revised power ranking, with Miami still at the top, followed by Pitt, Virginia Tech, Duke, and Wake Forest, while Louisville and SMU slide out of the top five.
We then look at the weekly betting challenge standings and move into game previews. For Pitt at Virginia Tech, we focus on the spread, the quality of each team’s unbeaten start, and questions about how much either side has really been tested. Most of us lean toward Pitt covering, while also expecting a close game.
Next, we break down Virginia at Florida State. We say Virginia has been more consistent so far, while Florida State has been uneven. We discuss whether Virginia can win on the road and whether Florida State can respond if it falls behind early.
We finish with Miami at Clemson, where Miami is a touchdown favorite. We describe Miami as the stronger team and expect it to control the game, though we note Clemson has been winning ugly and could potentially stay closer than expected. We also briefly mention a few other ACC lines and make quick picks on those games.
