No. 5 Adrian College Ties NCAA Record for Most Power Play Goals as Bulldogs Stomp Marian, 15-1

FOND DU LAC, Wisc. (SESN) – The No. 5 Adrian College NCAA women’s hockey team completed its series with Marian University on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs tied a program milestone for the second most goals scored in a single game as Adrian came away with a 15-1 victory.

Tia Lascelle and Callie Wollschlager opened the scoring for Adrian in the first period before Allie Hubenschmidtnetted back-to-back goals to lead 4-0 at the end of the first. Courtney Ben began the second period with a pair of power play goals before Wollschlager and Lascelle scored power play goals within ten seconds of each other to lead 8-0. With 1:19 to go in the second, Wollschlager scored her third goal of the game. Annika Hanson netted a goal to lead 10-0 entering the final period.

In the third period, Paige Pomerleau scored before Ben netted her hat trick goal. Emma Simon, Gia Avalone, and Karmen Anderson scored in the third to lead 15-0. Marian struck late in the game to make it 15-1.

Wollschlager finished with a 5-point afternoon adding two assists to her three goals. Ben also added two assists to her hat trick. Vanessa Ruban started in goal where she finished the game with nine saves.

The Bulldogs tie a NCAA record for most power play goals scored in a single game. The previous record was set on November 22, 2008 when Manhattanville scored seven in a single game.

Adrian will continue NCHA conference play on November 15-16 when they travel to Aurora University for a two-game series. Puck drop on Friday night is scheduled for 4:00 PM EST.
